How Pastor Ssenyonga Tried to Destroy Pr Kayanja’s Reputation
17th ,October 2025
In the heart of Kampala, where pulpits echo with promises of salvation and healing, a storm has been brewing—one not of divine intervention, but of betrayal, manipulation, and spiritual warfare cloaked in legal drama. At the center of this storm stands Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Ministries International, a man once trusted by many, now accused of orchestrating one of the most shameful plots in Uganda’s church history.
A Tale of Lies and Contradictions
The courtroom at Mwanga II Magistrates Court has become a theatre of twisted testimonies and broken truths. Nine individuals are on trial for allegedly fabricating sodomy charges against Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral—a respected servant of God whose ministry has touched thousands.
Among the accused is Alex Wakamala, whose shaky testimony revealed disturbing links to Pastor Ssenyonga’s inner circle. Under cross-examination, Wakamala admitted to saving phone numbers in his contacts—one labeled “Pastor Ssenyonga,” another “Wasswa,” and a third as “Chairman.” When asked how he got these numbers, his story changed like the wind. First, he blamed his wife. Then, he claimed he wrote them down during court proceedings. The inconsistency was glaring. The truth? Buried beneath layers of fear and manipulation.
Even more damning was the phone matrix presented by the Cybercrime Department. It showed frequent communication between Aggrey Kinene—Ssenyonga’s personal assistant—and the accused, especially Reagan Ssentongo. Unlike the suspects who refused to testify under oath, this evidence was submitted under oath. It spoke louder than any sermon.
Israel Wasswa, another accused, added to the drama. Initially willing to testify under oath, he made a sudden U-turn, opting for an unsworn statement—shielding himself from cross-examination. His testimony was a cocktail of denials. He denied organizing youths, denied following victims to Mulago Hospital, denied holding press conferences, and denied knowing his co-accused. Yet the prosecution insists he is closely tied to a powerful city pastor—Pastor Ssenyonga.
Wasswa’s refusal to testify under oath, coupled with his criminal past (two and a half years for aggravated assault and robbery), raised eyebrows. The courtroom even burst into laughter when the magistrate asked if he’d reconsider. He declined.
The defence, clearly rattled, requested more time to prepare their remaining witnesses. But Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya wasn’t having it. “They’ve had ample time since December,” he argued. “This is nothing but delay tactics.”
What Kind of Pastor Sponsors False Accusations?
Let us ask ourselves: What kind of shepherd sponsors wolves to devour another shepherd? What kind of man of God uses guards, assistants, and ex-convicts to fabricate charges that could destroy a ministry?
Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga, once seen as a spiritual leader, now stands accused of masterminding a plot so vile it shakes the foundation of Christian brotherhood. This is not just a legal case—it is a spiritual crisis. A betrayal of the altar. A desecration of the pulpit.
Uganda’s Christian community is rising above this darkness. We must demand accountability, not just from the accused, but from those who pull the strings behind closed doors. The church is not a battlefield for egos. It is a sanctuary for truth, love, and redemption.
Pastor Kayanja’s name was dragged through the mud. But truth, like light, cannot be buried. It finds its way through cracks, through courtrooms, through contradictions.
Let this be a lesson to every spiritual leader: power without purity is poison. Influence without integrity is destruction. And no amount of guards, assistants, or phone numbers can silence the voice of justice.
